Actress Maritoni Fernandez is beaming with vibrant smile after her recent checkup, reaffirming that she’s cancer free.
The 48-year-old actress expressed her joy on Instagram by posting a photo taken during her annual 3D mammography tomosynthesis with her doctor and medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital Global.
She wrote, “It’s an all clear for my yearly 3D mammography ‘tomosynthesis’. Thank you Lord! 17 years cancer free! With me here are my rad tech Marie and my super close friend Dra. Perez (head of breast clinic at St. Luke’s Global). Thank you for making sure I’m always healthy and my boobies are too!”
In another post, the actress shared how she fasted all night to be able to fill up two test tubes for her blood extraction.
“When it’s that time of year to get all your cancer markers done and you’ve fasted all night long to have two test tubes of blood extracted and all you can keep telling yourself is “You’ll eat soon! Just smile through the pain and nervousness muna!” My nurses were amazing though,” she captioned.
Fernandez was diagnosed with stage 2A cancer on her right breast in 2011. After undergoing “lumpectomy” and battling cancer for a year in the United States, she is celebrating another year of being a cancer survivor.
She is currently a proud spokesperson for breast cancer patients and survivors in the Philippines.
