Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes said the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) will be in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday, Oct. 6 and in Fujairah on next Friday, Oct 13 to provide assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) needing passport and other paperwork assistance.
“We do Fridays based on our consular outreach schedule and at least once a quarter in Dubai to unclog backlog,” Cortes said, adding that the fieldwork follows a revolving timetable.
The PCG opened its offices on a Friday, Sept. 15 to perform regular services, which resulted to nearly 300 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) having been able to renew their passports.
The move generated positive response from OFW netizens in the UAE who also proposed via The Filipino Times Facebook page that it be done on a more regular basis, even suggesting that mobile consular outreach services be done in malls.
The Sept. 15 special consular services resulted to around 300 free appointment slots in October and November.
In addition to the passports renewed, the team processed 102 notarial and legal documents, 6 civil registrations, extended assistance to 16 walk-in ATN cases. The consular team also registered 245 new overseas absentee voters.
