An overseas Filipino worker, working as a general technician in Ras Al Khaimah for the past two years, has won a bar of gold weighing a kilo and worth Dh150,000 or about Ph2 million, after shopping at Deira City Center during Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).
Edmundo Catangay, father of three, was declared winner following a raffle draw for the golden grand prize by Majid Al Futtaim which was part of its DSS promotion.
Catangay, who like most big winners informed about their luck thought it was all a prank, now plans to use his winnings to buy a house and lot back in the Philippines.
As per the promo, DCC shoppers who spent Dh200 at any store of the mall had the chance to win the gold bar which went on display for the duration of DSS from July 1 to Aug. 12.
The mall also offered shoppers the chance to win 100,000 flydubai reward points by spending at least Dh400 at fashion stores. .
