New hypermarket for Pinoys opens in Muraqqabat

As they say, there’s strength in numbers. And nowhere is this more apparent than in the UAE where the growing population of Filipinos – now approximately in the range of a  million – has been leading the way for more businesses to grow, among them, the hypermart sector, known in business jargon as the fast moving consumer group (FMCG).

Just recently, Al Safeer Group of Companies opened Al Safeer Hypermarket in Muraqqabat, catering mainly to the Filipino community in the area. The 17,000sq.m. hypermarket is among the biggest supermarkets owned by Al Safeer Group.

“This is the 25th supermarket to open here in the UAE and the second in Dubai. It is also one of the biggest supermarkets owned by the company. The opening of this branch in Muraqabat, Deira is to purposely service the Filipinos in the area,” said Ashok Tulsaini, Executive Director for FMCG of Al Safeer Group of Companies.

Aside from its wide array of grocery items covering hundreds of different brands including popular Filipino ones, the hypermarket also has a 24-hour pharmacy, a ladies salon, a bakeshop selling Filipino breads and pastries, a butchery and a confectionery.

For its grand opening and for the Eid al Adha holidays, special offers were offered for the customers, who will also be invited to register to avail of Safeer Plus, Al Safeer’s loyalty card.

“Every Dh3 worth of purchase is equivalent to 1 point, using the Safeer Plus. As soon as you reach 1,000 points, you are entitled to a Dh50 voucher. You cannot get the same number of points in any loyalty cards in the market because we have the best offer in town,” said Tulsaini.

Al Safeer Group is a UAE-based conglomerate that owns various brands including Eternity, Shoes for Us, Expressions, Homestyle, Al Seef Property, Century Mall and Safeer Mall. The company also owns malls in Oman and Doha.
