VISITATION

Overseas Workers Welfare Administrator Hans Leo J.Cacdac (first right) was in General Santos City on June 26, 2017 to see the family of  Jennifer Dalquez in General Santos City, South Cotabato, Mindanao.

“I visited the Dalquez Family, led by Ama Abdul, Ina Rahima, and Jennifer’s husband and two minor children (ages 8 and 5). In behalf of DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III and the OWWA Board of Trustees, I assured the Dalquez family of our continued support, especially in terms of livelihood and scholarship assistance,” Cacdac said in his Facebook post about the visit.

He said Ama Abdul and Ina Rahima proudly showed him Jennifer’s certificate as Koran Reading Competition winner in UAE (pic). “The two children, both boys, handed me short love notes they made for Jennifer, with a wish to have them hand-delivered to her in Al Ain Prison. Wish surely granted,” Cacdac said.

Thirty-year-old Dalquez is a Filipina household service worker sentenced to death by the Al Ain Court of First Instance in May 2015 over the death of her employer whom she admitted to have killed in Dec. 2014, stressing that she did so because he allegedly tried to rape her.

The Court of Appeals acquitted her on June 19 this year. (Photo from OWWA chief Hans Leo J. Cacdac’s Facebook page)
