Instagram goes dark – feeds, profiles, and photos unavailable to access

Instagram, one of the most popular social media websites and apps driven by photos, has stopped working around the world briefly. All users of the mobile app were unable to access their feeds, profiles, and photos for a few hours.

The website version of the app also pointed to empty profiles and server errors.

While the outage might have been a technical error, the sudden blackout of Instagram comes days after original founders, Instagram’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Systrom and Chief Technical Officer Mike Krieger resigned from Instagram a week back without stating any reasons for their resignation.

Instagram was launched in 2010 as an app initially exclusive for iOS with a version for Android released 1 year and 6 months afterwards. The social media platform was acquired by Facebook in 2012 after paying $1 billion and continues to be one of the most popular apps with over millions of downloads in both the Google Play Store and Apple Store.
