A criminal court in Sharjah heard the case of a 27-year-old Asian maid who was facing theft charges after stealing money and other items from her Emirati sponsor.
The maid would regularly steal cash, bags, and clothes from her employers when their family is away, and would send the stolen items to her family in her home country, reported Khaleej Times.
The Emirati employer decided to file a complaint after noticing that some of their belongings went missing.
When the employer decided to search her maid’s room, cash worth Dh5,000 and some luxury bags belonging to his wife and daughters were found in the maid’s possession.
He was also able to retrieve receipts from a cargo company proving that she has been sending the stolen items to her family.
During the investigation, the maid, who has been working for the Emirati employer for 2 years, admitted to the accusations against her.
The case has been postponed to October 7.
