Alternative route to EDSA, C-5 from Rizal is almost complete

Commuters in the Philippines who travel to Metro Manila from southern cities and eastern towns will be able to experience faster road travel thanks to the newly constructed highway, which is almost near its completion.

The new road which is called Laguna Lake Highway aims to rehabilitate and widen roads, drainage and bridges between Taguig City and Taytay, Rizal, reported Entrepreneur Philippines.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the said project is said to be 87% completed as of June 2018 and it is expected to be accessible to the public by the end of this year.

The said project began in March 2016 and it cost a total budget worth of P1.484 billion.

DPWH added that travelling from M.L. Quezon Avenue in Taguig City to Barkadahan Bridge in Taytay, Rizal, which usually takes an hour, will cut down to 30 minutes thanks to the new road.

Once the road is completed, it can be used by motorists as an alternative route to EDSA and C-5 Road.

The said road will also be pedestrian-friendly as it will feature a 1.5 meter-wide sidewalk and a three meter-wide protected bike lane.
