As they say, life is a wheel. Sometimes you’re up, the next thing you know, you’re down.
The same thing goes with these celebrities who, at one point in their lives, were able to experience fame and fortune but are now just barely getting by.
But if there is one thing that we can learn from these celebrities, it is having the strength to never give up and to view life’s challenges as something that will help us rise from the ashes and continue facing life’s challenges.
Mystica
Two years ago, singer Mystica revealed on GMA’s “Front Row” took a turn for the worst.
In the said show, she and her husband Kid Lopez said that they could barely afford a decent meal and would often settle for lugaw and sardines.
Mystica said that her downfall started when she uploaded a viral video criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte. The original video has since been deleted but it became viral before it was removed.
Because of the this, Mystica was fired from her job as a managing director in a hotel where she receives P150,000 as her monthly salary.
Mystica has since lost some of her properties and has even asked for financial help through her Facebook account.
Aside from that, she has also revealed that she can’t go back to singing because she has lost her voice to a throat infection linked to blood poisoning.
BB Gandanghari
These past years, BB Gandanghari was at the top of her game. Her physical and legal transition was a success, she worked as a model, moved to the United States, and began to pursue her Hollywood dream.
However, after that temporary high, BB Gandanghari revealed earlier this year through an open letter that she is now facing the “scariest time” of her life.
BB Gandanghari said in the open letter that she gave herself three months to compose herself and get it together in Los Angeles. However, things were not as easy as she had assumed and went on to admit that she struggled financially in Hollywood.
“It is the scariest time as I wrestle thru the challenges of pursuing this now seemingly overwhelming and elusive Hollywood dream of mine,” she wrote.
“Life in simple terms, confronted me at face value. Physical, social, physiological, psychological, financial and professional insecurities was slowly becoming me.
“As I try with all my might to overcome these limitations, I am in the realization that I gotta have my headshot soonest or go home or . . . broke.”
In December 2017, her brother Robin Padilla said in an interview that BB Gandanghari is now working in Los Angeles as an Uber driver.
However, it can be seen on BB Gandanghari’s recent posts that she is back on pursuing her Hollywood dream by going to several auditions and go-sees.
Deborah Sun
Character actress Deborah Sun confessed in the now-defunct entertainment talk show “Startalk” in 2015 that she is struggling with her finances.
But aside from her economic status, Sun also opened up in the same interview the problems she had with her son, Jam Melendez, who allegedly had drug problems.
Sun, born as Jean Louise Porcuna Salvador, was an actress known for roles in movies Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig (1987), Temptation Island (1980) and Pakawalan Mo Ako (1981).
