Filipinos who have been working in the UAE for less than five years will be required to submit a Good Conduct Certificate should they decide to change jobs and secure a new employment visa.
On February 4, the UAE government implemented the ‘good conduct and behaviour certificate’ or police clearance letter as a new requirement for those who want to work in the UAE. The said certificate should be submitted by an applicant to be granted a work permit.
In previous reports, Paul Raymund Cortes, Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, explained that the counterpart of the said conduct certificate for Filipinos is the NBI clearance that can be obtained by those who are already in the UAE from the consulate.
The said clearance has a fingerprint of the applicant as well as a signature of the police officer who processed the fingerprinting.
Moreover, applicants should also prepare a Special Power of Attorney which can also be obtained at the consulate
The Good Conduct Certificate, which is expected to cause a significant change in the visa system of the UAE, will be used as a background check if the new resident has a criminal record in his/her home country.
