UAE residents should make safeguarding their Emirates ID cards’ personal identification number (PIN) a habit to avoid identity fraud and identity theft.
Emirates ID card features self deactivation function if a user enter a wrong four-digit PIN number for three consecutive times.
This will require the user to visit an Emirates Identity Authority kiosk machines and registration center.
The Validation Gateway also allows Emirates ID card holders to reset their PIN through fingerprint.
Securing ID PINs can prevent fraud such as credit card breach and online banking theft.
