Ten OFW fathers, most of them doing blue collared jobs, have been bestowed commendation by the Philippine Consulate and Filipino Ladies of Dubai (FLD), in the first-ever Ulirang Ama Awards held at the PCG Rizal Hall on Friday, June 16.
Albert G. Orpilla, driver/messenger/PRO; Eduardo Francisco, driver; Edward Licas, electrician; Ronald Bucad, canmaker; Elmar Salveron, former aquarist; Danilo Borres, driver; Julito Bungcasan Jr., painter; Ranniel Aromin, purchaser; Eduardo De la Paz, househusband; and Ferdinan Santos, painter, accepted certificates and special gifts courtesy of the event’s sponsors, from Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes and wife, Dr. Yasmine Cortes.
The awarding ceremony was attended by friends and family members of the awardees and FLD members, organizers of the event. Highlight of the ceremonies was a touching video presentation from the awardees’ families, who testified about their love, devotion and sacrifices to make life easier for their families back home by working abroad.
The whole day affair included a free photo shoots, free haircut for all the fathers present, a boodle fight, and short fitness training. (Gelin Castro)
