LuLu Exchange rewards inspiring stories of Filipinos’ new modern heroes in UAE

Filipinos have shown that in the most troubling times, they have banded together to exhibit resilience and perseverance and helped each other in the spirit of Bayanihan.

LuLu Exchange, in collaboration with The Filipino Times, celebrated the UAE’s modern-day Filipino heroes with a contest that shared positive stories amid the COVID-19 experience.

Winners Moshiera Rumaguia and Phoebe Ann Escalante both shared the story of Mona Aliman Baraguir who selflessly helped the Filipino community to make ends meet especially at the height of the pandemic.

Phoebe Ann Escalante
“Napili ko pong hero si madam Mona dahil siya ay nakakatulong sa kapwa Pilipino na nawalan ng trabaho nung time na malaki pa yung pinsala ng COVID-19 sa ating bansa,” – Phoebe Ann Escalante.

Rumagia said that she admires Baraguir, whose works have been instrumental even way before the pandemic took place.

Moshiera Rumaguia
“Napili ko po siyang modern hero ng ating bansa dito sa UAE dahil ever since po na nandito ako sa UAE, namulatan ko na po yung kanyang kabutihan. Hindi pa po dumadating yung calamity na ito, tumutulong talaga siya sa ating kapwa lalo na sa mga Pilipino na nahihirapan dito sa UAE,” – Moshiera Rumaguia

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi-based OFW Fritz Duenas nominated Em Serrano who has also been actively helping out fellow OFWs by providing relief goods. He said that it’s Em Serrano’s heart for service that provides inspiration that fellow Filipinos can make a difference by stepping up to help others.

Fritz Duenas
“Ni-nominate ko po si Ms. Em Serrano since nung nag simula ng pandemic or even before that, tinutulungan po niya ang mga kabayan through relief goods and nakita ko po talaga kung gaano siya ka-concerned para sa mga Pilipino dito sa UAE na nahihirapan during this pandemic,” – Fritz Duenas

LuLu Exchange rewarded each winner with an iPhone SE for sharing their thoughts and inspiring fellow Filipinos that they too can extend their hearts and hands to provide assistance and spread positivity.
