Luzon-wide community quarantine to take effect beginning March 17

The enhanced Luzon-wide community quarantine will take effect beginning midnight of Tuesday, March 17.
Classes and all school-related activities will remain suspended until April 14.
“Strict home quarantine shall be observed in all household, movement restricted to access basic necessities.” Nograles said.

Only private establishments providing basic necessities and such activities related to food and medicine production will remain open. This includes the following:
· Public markets
· Supermarkets
· Groceries
· Convenience stores
· Hospitals
· Medical clinics
· Pharmacies and drug stores
· Food preparation and delivery services
· Water-refilling stations
· Manufacturing and processing plants of basic food products and medicines
· Banks
· Money transfer services
· Power, energy, water and telecommunications supplies and facilities
Restaurant operations will be limited to food preparation and delivery, according to Nograles.

“In all such open establishments, their respective managements shall ensure the adoption of a strict skeletal workforce to support operations, as well as all strict social distancing measures,” the memorandum read.
Transit to and from the said establishments will be allowed.
“‘Yung basic necessities… those will continue to operate, so you may go to them. If there’s no public transportation then use a private vehicle or you’ll have to walk,” Nograles said.
“Dapat iisa lang ang bibili ng necessities,” he added.
Business Process Outsourcing establishments and export-oriented industries will remain operational but must observe social distancing measures.
Employers in these industries were also ordered to provide temporary accommodation for their workers by Thursday, March 18.
“Failure to abide by the foregoing guidelines and measures shall be subjected to appropriate action, both criminal and administrative, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations,” the memorandum read.
