Actor John Lloyd Cruz stages his comeback to showbiz with movie “Servando Magdamag.”
Cruz, who took a year-long break from showbiz, will topbill the Lav Diaz adaptation of a short story by Ricky Lee.
Black Sheep released a teaser on the film on Wednesday, where Diaz and Cruz were seen sharing ideas for the film adaptation.
Award-winning writer Ricky Lee revealed that the adaptation had been planned for years, and the filming took a while because of the technique he used in writing the story.

“Through the years, never siyang bumitaw. Nag-pelikula na siya, nakilala, and then eventually, a couple of years ago, nilapitan niya ulit ako. ‘Ituloy na natin ‘yung Servando,” Lee said.
Lee also revealed that Diaz handpicked Cruz for the role of Servando Sais, a member of a feudal family or Spanish hacienderos.
“Excited na excited siya because he was thinking of John Lloyd already,” he said.
The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
