Actor John Lloyd Cruz is making a showbiz comeback as his new project with his former girlfriend Shaina Magdayao has been unveiled in the 2020 line up of ABS-CBN.
Cruz and Magdayao will team up in the film project ‘Servando Magdamag’ which would end his two-year hiatus in show business.
The couple split in 2012, afterwhich Cruz entered into a relationship with actress Angelica Panganiban.
“Servando Magdamag” is based on the short story by acclaimed writer Ricky Lee, who previously said that its film adaptation would be helmed by Lav Diaz.
In a photo shared by The Jerks group member Chickoy Pura early this month, he thanked director Lav Diaz and Cruz for the new project.
“Jan. 1, 2020. What a great way to start the year. To work again with the great director and friend Lavrente Diaz… Maraming, maraming salamat sa pagkakataon. Humbled and honored,” he said.
No further details have been disclosed about the project. Cruz has yet to issue an official statement.
Cruz took a showbiz break in 2017 at the height of his relationship with model Ellen Adarna.
