A magnitude 5 earthquake was recorded in Surigao Del Sur this evening.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake happened at around 6:53 p.m. in northeast of Cortes town.
Phivolcs said the shaking was of tectonic origin with a depth of 20 kilometers.
Intensity II was felt in Surigao City.
In an updated release by Phivolcs, it added that intensity II was also recorded in Cagwait, Surigao Del Sur.
Surprise Antojado, who is in Lanuza town, told The Filipino Times that they also felt the shaking there.
“Kana ganing naa ka sa tulay nya naay sakyanan moagi (Parang yung nasa tulay ka at may dumaan na mga sasakyan),” she told TFT.
Lanuza is 50 kilometers away from Cortes town.
There were no reported damages because of it, as of this writing.
