Singer Katrina Velarde has opened up about battling with Bell’s Palsy during her pregnancy.
In an interview published on the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Velarde shared she experienced it when she was pregnant with her three-year-old son.
Until now, Velarde said she is still anxious about the effect of Bell’s Palsy on her face.
The singer said her immune system was not that strong.
For a while, Velarde said she wasn’t able to sing. It also had a hard time to swallow food.
But she recovered recovered from this condition. After two months after, she was back again to singing.
Now, Katrina will have her second major concert entitled “SiKati2” on November 29.
Sharing the stage with Velarde are Bugoy Drilon and Michael Pangilinan.
Medical researches and studies have not yet really determined the cause of this condition but most claim that it’s somehow a reaction of a viral infection.
Meanwhile, actress Angelu de Leon recently talked about having suffered Bell’s Palsy attack twice. The first one was in 2009 when she was having breakfast and spurted the water she was drinking.
She felt that the right side of her face was getting heavier. After two weeks, she was able to recover.
The second attack happened recently in 2016 after her family’s vacation in Europe. Her left eye suddenly shut.
