Bahrain’s Department of Maritime Supervision under the Agriculture and Marine Wealth Agency on September 17 confiscated around 150 kilograms worth of spoiled fish from Manama Central Market, The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain reported.
The department’s special team was conducting regular inspection campaigns when they learned that tons of spoiled fish are still being sold at the market, despite their condition.
The kingdom has warned consumers to be careful when buying fish at the market, and make sure the quality remains intact. They added that if customers spot spoiled fish, they should alert the authorities immediately.
In addition, the Manama Capital Municipality has completed around 40 percent of the revamp work at the fish market—which include ensuring its cleanliness and the quality of products.
The municipality said in a statement that the revamp is being carried out at a fast pace considering the high volume of customers visiting it daily.
