LBC partnered with the Philippine Business Council (PBC) Dubai and the Northern Emirates and launched their inaugural business fellowship to discover the entrepreneurial spirit among Filipinos, aiming to empower and to transform the mindset of overseas workers.
The said fellowship is an 8-month program designed for Filipinos aspiring to start a business in the United Arab Emirates. It has 14 sessions, which are aligned from business conception to operations, and even towards expansion.
Allan Michael Bautista, Sales & Marketing Manager of LBC Express Middle East said that the purpose of the collaboration is to unlock and cultivate the fundamental entrepreneurial spirit among aspiring Filipinos by providing them not just the recognition they deserve, but more importantly the full-on support, network and proper infrastructure to turn their entrepreneurial vision into reality.
Currently, the PBC fellowship is on its 8th session.
According to Leo Barrameda, PBC director for corporate social responsibility and head of the program, the fellowship envisions to connect the entire Filipino community as they aim to bridge the businesses together and to promote collaborations and partnerships.
“We want them to become confident. Through the lecture series, we will expose them not only on the theories but also through case studies and workshops,” Barrameda said.
“We are giving them the opportunity and platform to make their vision a reality,” he added.
Sarah Reyes, one of the secretariats said the program is a good option for everyone, which is to become an entrepreneur in the future.
She also said that while the aspirants undergo a tedious process to become future businessmen, the goal of the program is to unleash their potentials and to change their mission and vision in life.
“This is another discovery of yourself towards becoming something bigger, to level up, or becoming an entrepreneur,” Reyes explained.
LBC positions itself at the heart
As the country’s premier provider for freight services, movements, remittances, and cargos, LBC fulfills the primary need of Filipinos overseas on enriching relationships with their families – which is why they decided to tie up with PBC to strongly connect the workers.
“We always anchored our business as a tool or as a function to serve the Filipino community… LBC bridges the gap to serve the Filipinos outside the Philippines,” Bautista explained.
For the whole duration of the fellowship, LBC mentors and guides the aspirants to develop their entrepreneurial mindset and to hone their spirit of becoming successful businesspersons.
“The usual mindset of a Filipino is to be employed, to have a stable job, to become a successful worker. Very few want to step up or move up their game and start contributing to the society in a different way,” he said.
Bautista also explained that LBC wants to recognize the inner spirit of aspirants for them to realize that they have bigger roles to fill in the Filipino society, to espouse and to encourage that kind of move because LBC knows that the entrepreneurial route is a bigger form of success.
“Of course we would be happy there’s a new Filipino business that will be born. LBC will be like the godfather. We will support it, we will fund it, and we will push it to the community. Soon, we will be proud to say this is our very first Filipino business to be supported by LBC,” Bautista explained.
The said premiere Filipino logistics services will award Dh50,000 to the best business plan after the final verdict on their proposals to be presented in December.
“Pursuing their dreams and making it into reality is a big step already. LBC is there to back them up no matter what. It strengthens our commitment to support the Filipino community wherever they are. That’s really the name of the game,” he said.
LBC will be assisted by a panel of judges composed of different industry experts during the evaluation to identify the best business plan.
