Kamikazee hints reunion, comeback single

Rock icon Kamikazee hinted the possibility of a comeback single or a reunion after almost two years since the group announced their disbandment.

Kamikazee first stormed the Internet after a year of stepping out of the limelight when they posted a vague yet meaningful teaser or poster on its Instagram account.

The image contains text that reads “Tagpuan” and date “12.09.17”.

Fans easily speculated that this could mean the band reunion concert.

Earlier this week, the band once again excited its fans when they posted a clearer photo. This time, it had more “teasing” details.

The teaser posted on its Instagram reads, “Matagal nang panahon…Magkikitang muli…Bagong kanta (It’s been a long time… We’ll meet again…Bagong Kanta)”.

The succeeding poster also clarified an earlier confusion with the date, as one of the hashtags used read #december9.

The group–composed of former UP College of Fine Arts students Jay Contreras, Jamal Linao, Led Tuyay, Puto Astete and Bords Burdeos–has been around since the early 2000s, but first burst into mainstream success in 2006, with their studio album “Maharot,” featuring now iconic songs “Narda” and “Martyr Nyebera,” among others.

It was in December 2010 when Kamizee held its last concert to culminate its 15 years in the music industry.

According to a press release, Kerwin Rosete, the group’s manager, said the members want to take time off to concentrate on other matters and their families. It was announced this year that the 5-member group would take an indefinite leave from the music scene.

“A few months ago, we said we would take a long break at the end of the year and nothing has changed,” Kewin said.

“The band are all still incredibly close to each other but after years of recording and playing live, the time is now right for them to step away from the stage and enjoy other aspects of their lives. And there’s no better way to finish than with a concert alongside many of their best friends, in one of Manila’s greatest arenas and in front of thousands of the best fans in the world.”
