BOOSTER SHOT: 40% of UAE’s population vaccinated against COVID-19

The UAE government has already inoculated more than 40 percent of the country’s population, the health sector’s spokesperson said on Tuesday night.

Dr. Farida Al Hosani said in a press briefing that the UAE is on track of its target to give the COVID-19 jabs to half of UAE’s population in the first quarter of 2021.

This was also announced by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) on its Twitter account.

It said: “The vaccine was provided to 40.48% of the total population in the country, which is in line with the plan to provide the vaccine to 50% of the total population during the first quarter of this year.”

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced Tuesday that 111,890 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered between February 15 and 16.

The total number of doses provided as of yesterday stands at 5,198,725 with a rate of vaccine distribution of 52.56 doses per 100 people.
