P20,000 assistance fund awaits OFW returnees under “Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay” program

Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) returnees need not worry about starting a living in the Philippines, assured the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), as the government is ready to give assistance amounting to P20,000 under the program, “Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay.”

To avail of the financial assistance, the OFW is required to submit a business plan or any project-related plans to OWWA.

When granted of the aide, OFWs will also receive techno-skill livelihood and entrepreneurship development training, starter kits, goods and other services.

OWWA Administrator Leo Cacdac stressed that the program is not limited to OFW repatriates from Kuwait alone, but it is also available for the displaced OFWs due to wars and policy reform, victims of human trafficking, and distressed Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC) due to repatriation, reported ABS-CBN News.

Other services to the OFWs being offered by OWWA and National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) include Livelihood Development Assistance Program to improve socio-economic well-being of undocumented OFWs; and BalikPinay, BalikHanapbuhay, an intervention consisting of skills training and provision of starter kits based on project proposal of distressed women OFW.
