A Filipina maid was arrested in Dubai after a neighbor spotted her assaulting a five-year old boy and reported it to the mother of the child.
The maid allegedly slapped and pinched the child and hit him in between his legs with a stick when the boy dropped her phone, reported The National.
According to Senior public prosecutor Ahmad Al Attar, they were alerted of the incident early January.
The neighbor, as per the prosecutor, took the child away from the maid upon seeing the violence and told the mother upon her return from Abu Dhabi where she lives.
The Filipina did not deny punishing the boy.
As per the medical reports, the child sustained bruises on his body.
The child was also said to have developed a state of shame from being hit publicly and had suffered nightmares about the maid.
A number of other women from their neighborhood in Bur Dubai also spoke up and claimed to see the accused beating the child, but failed to report it.
Al Attar said he could not believe how people could see such abuse but neglected to report it.
Dubai prosecutors encouraged the public to speak up if they witness such kind of incident.
