Over 60,000 private sector workers have been regularized since last year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Wednesday.
Labor Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod said a total of 63,721 individuals are regular employees in their respective companies.
Maglunsod reiterated that all businesses and establishments including fastfood chains and malls are covered by Department Order (DO) 174, which imposes a total ban on labor-only contracting and other forms of unlawful contractual arrangements.
The order was approved in connection with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to stop contractualization.
On the other hand, janitorial and security services; services of seasonal and project-based orders are not covered by DO 174.
With this, Maglunsod urged employers to immediately implement once a compliance order has been issued to them.
