Burj Khalifa turns pink to mark breast cancer month

Dubai: Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, will turn pink on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights to raise awareness and funds during the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition to the pink glow, themed chocolates will be distributed at The Café located at At the Top, Burj Khalifa; and for every item sold in the At the Top, Burj Khalifa retail stores throughout the month of October, Gulf News quoted organizers as saying.

Al Jalila Foundation, meanwhile, will donate Dh1 for every item sold At The Top, Burj Khalifa’s observation deck.

Visitors at Burj Khalifa have also been invited to participate in the awareness campaign by wearing pink, the report said.
The breast cancer awareness month is observed to encourage women to undertake regular checks, as early detection has shown to increase treatment success rates, the GN report pointed out, adding that it also aims to raise funds to find a cure to the disease which affects women around the world.
