The Dubai Airports have finally rolled out the world’s fastest free wi-fi connection which will benefit millions of passengers that pass through DXB each month.
Dubbed as WOW-Fi, connections are tipped to be at an impressive 100 Mbps speed and will be offered unlimited for free. More than 6,000 new Wi-Fi access points have been added to the existing Wi-Fi scheme of the airport which would ensure consistent speed and reliability for everyone who would be using it.
“As the biggest international airport in the world, we are at the heart of many journeys across the globe. To support these travelers, late last year we launched unlimited free high-speed Wi-Fi across our airports but our goal was to offer something they have never experienced at an airport before,” Michael Ibbitson, Executive Vice President of Technology and Infrastructure at Dubai Airports, said in reference to DXB’s latest offering as quoted by Emirates 24/7.
With WOW-Fi, said Ibbitson, passengers will get a speed of up to 100mbps to enable them to quickly download or upload emails, pictures, videos and social media updates and then get on with enjoying the airport or connecting to their friends and family across the world.
This new development came just days after the Dubai Airports have launched new baggage rules that are geared towards faster and better handling of passengers’ luggage. And if these changes are any indications, it just means that the management of the Dubai Airports are seriously about improving the quality of service they provide for their customers.
