Casimero knocks out Mexican opponent

Johnriel Casimero, the pride of Ormoc City, scored a 10th-round knockout win over Mexican fighter Cesar Ramirez to keep his World Boxing Organization interim bantamweight crown on Saturday night at San Andres Sports Complex.

The 30-year-old Casimero, a former world champion, sent Ramirez to canvas with a left uppercut followed by a right hook.

Ramirez’s mouthpiece flew as he crashed to the canvas, prompting referee Ramon Pena to call a halt to the fight at the 2:23 mark of the 10th round

The victory brightened Casimero’s chances of earning a world title fight as bagged his 28th win, 19 by knockouts, and four losses.

Ramirez, 31, went home with his fourth loss in 22 fights.
