UAE bars import of some poultry from Croatia

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has announced that import of all kinds of live domestic and wild birds, ornamental birds, and chicks from the Republic of Croatia will be prohibited in the UAE.

The announcement came following reports of severe H5N5 bird flu outbreak in Croatia.

The Ministry also put a halt on the importation of poultry meat and table eggs from the affected province of Krapinsko-Zagorska.

After Brazil, the UAE bans eggs from these two places

The Ministry works to implement the Federal Law No. 10 of 2015 on the safety of food, which applies to all establishments licensed to trade food or feed, and consignments coming in to the country or passing through its territory.

The law also applies in all stages of the food chain from primary production through processing until it reaches to the consumer.

Only thermally treated poultry products (treated meat and processed egg products) and thermally treated poultry waste are allowed entry from the Republic of Croatia.
