Filipino in Jeddah seeks help following botched surgery

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has asked for help after he accuses his attending doctor of botching his gallbladder surgery.

The man identified as Jomel Barangan has reached out to the Philippine Consulate to press charges against the doctor who performed the surgery for medical malpractice.

According to him, a test in a different hospital from where he had the operation found out that the doctor, who has not been identified, hit other vital organs during the operations. He also complained about the hospital’s supposed lack of consideration for his welfare, GMA News reported.

“Ang dahilan kung bakit nila ako dinischarge ay dahil kulang sila sa kagamitan, tapos parang hindi nila yata ako kaya doon. Pinag-taxi pa ako na may dala-dalang tubo,” Barangan recalled.

The consulate said it is ready to assist Barangan with his needs.

“Sasamahan po siya sa police station para mag-file ng complaint,” a staff member from the consular office.
