Filipinos who wish to head home whose flights had been cancelled due to COVID-19 related restrictions had been advised to wait for travel approvals for their respective airlines.
The Philippine Embassy in the UAE’s ‘ATN Alamin’ series led by Consul General Marford Angeles, explained that the Philippines currently limits the number of planes that will land in the country to help local government resources manage the allocation of testing and quarantine facilities.
“Marami ang gustong umuwi ng Pilipinas mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo nang sabay-sabay. Dahilan sa bulto ng paparating na pasahero, kailangan limitahan ang mga pumapasok na flights sa Pilipinas, ayon po sa kakayan nating i-process, i-quarantine, at i-test ang mga dumadating para hindi kumalat ang virus sa ating bansa,” explained Consul General Angeles.

Consul General Angeles states that this situation is not limited to the UAE, but also to other countries around the world as well. He furthered that the Embassy’s role is to request flight clearances for the airlines to help Filipinos fly home
“Limitado po ang flights papuntang Pilipinas hindi lamang galing dito sa UAE kung di yun pong galing sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo dahil po sa COVID-19. Dahil po sa COVID-19, ang lahat po ng mga bansa sa buong mundo ay nag-impose po ng travel restrictions upan mapigilan ang pagkalat ng virus,” explained Consul General Angeles.

The ATN Alamin video also explained that the Embassy is working together with the Philippine aviation authorities to secure more flight clearances in the coming days.
“Masigasig po sa pag-re-request ang Embahada sa Philippine Aviation Authorities para mabigyan po ng landing clearances ang airlines para po ay mapayagang makalapag sa NAIA at Clark. Ipinarating na rin po ng Embahada sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno ang inyong mga hinaing at sitwasyon ng mga Pilipino sa UAE,” explained Consul General Angeles.
