The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) has allowed all its undergraduate students to pass amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In an announcement on April 22, the city government of manila cited the university’s president Noel Leyco as saying that all students will receive a passing mark this semester ‘in recognition of the extremely serious impact of COVID-19’ on their academic life.
In his Facebook page, PLM president Leyco posted a memorandum for the guidelines regarding the mass promotion of students.
The memorandum stated that students who are eligible for the passing mark include those enrolled for the 2nd semester or trimester of academic year 2019-2020. For graduating students, they still have to submit their thesis although they will no longer undergo a panel defense. The passing mark, however, will not be included in their general weighted average.
Meanwhile, those who were not able to finish their internship must complete alternative activities assigned by the university before they can be recorded as having completed the practicum.
Graduate students, in addition, will be given a one-year extension to complete their thesis projects
The announcement follows the enhanced community quarantine imposed on Luzon, which is set to end on April 30. The government, however, is yet to decide if they will extend it further.
