Ras Al Khaimah Police are tracking down the uploader of the video circulating on social media that shows large crowds gathering in the desert, ignoring social distancing measures.
A probe launched by the authorities confirmed that the video is old and categorized it as fake news.
Police said the culprit behind the latest rumor will be pursued and indicted.

Authorities also warned that fake news peddlers and rumormongers will face jail sentences up to three years and fine of up to Dh3 million.
They also asked all members of the community to take all information only from official sources and to fact-check before sharing and uploading such videos that will hinder the efforts taken to combat COVID-19.
