A man inquired to the Dubai Police if he needs to obtain a move permit to visit his two wives.
“I’m married to two women,” asked the caller. “Should I get a permit when I move from house to house?”
Gulf News reported that a senior Dubai Police official received the odd question during the implementation of the 24-hour disinfection drive in the emirate.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, couldn’t help himself but to laugh with the caller and joked that failing to secure a move permit would be a good excuse not to visit his wife.
Al Mazroui told Gulf News that he received many questions similar to what the caller inquired, however he pointed out that essence of the permit is to limit the movement of the people and curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“The permit is only for one time and people need to apply for a permit whenever they leave their homes for necessary matters,” he said.
“It’s not logical to give someone a weekly permit to buy essentials as we are aiming to reduce movement on the roads.”
Meanwhile, the Dubai police reiterated that individuals are not allowed to leave the house except for essential purposes or if they are working in vital sectors during the national sterilization programme.
It also advised the public to do their groceries in bulk and always bring receipts and permit to avoid fines when inspected by authorities.
Dubai Police added that individuals who have obtained permit should wear masks, gloves and observe physical distancing.
