AFP confirms senior military officer, wife test positive for COVID-19

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has confirmed that one of its senior military officials and his wife have tested positive for the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
In a statement, the AFP said the officer and his wife were admitted at the AFP Medical Center on March 15. They were considered as persons under investigations or PUIs after the official travelled abroad.

“They have been undergoing proper medical management with the military officer now being asymptomatic. They will continue medical treatment until fully recovered and strictly following DOH imposed protocol for COVID-19 patients,” the AFP said.
In a report on CNN Philippines, it’s unclear if the military officer and his wife were included in the Department of Health’s data of 501 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The AFP assured the public that strict measures were implemented for their military personnel working in their general headquarters.
Work from home scheme is also being implemented for civilian employees while military operations continue inside the camp. The military along with the Philippine National Police lead the security cluster in the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.
