Filipino worker identified as 15th COVID-19 case in Macau

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre in Macau reported that a Filipino who works at a hotel restaurant is the 15th case of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 in the region.
 
According to Macau News, the patient is a 31-year-old male non-resident who reported for work on January 26 before leaving for the Philippines to visit his relatives.
 
He returned to Hong Kong on March 16.

On March 17, health officials said he had a toothache and a rash for three days before he sought treatment at the Kiang Wu Hospital, where he was considered a “medium-risk” patient.
 
He underwent a viral nucleic acid testing before he returned to his home. 
 
Meanwhile, his throat swab sample was sent to the Public Health Laboratory of the Health Bureau (SSM) for testing and was found to be positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.
 
He is confined in an isolation ward at the Conde S. Januário Hospital for treatment.

The Municipal Affairs Bureau has cleaned and disinfected his residence in Taipa Island.
 
The bureau has also traced the people who came in contact with him.
 
Macau has recorded five new COVID-19 cases since March 15.
 
Meanwhile, health officials said these new cases are considered “mild and imported cases.”
