Zubiri confirms Hong Kong trip but believes he acquired COVID-19 at Senate

Senator Migz Zubiri has confirmed to reporters that he had a recent trip to Hong Kong but denies that he contracted the coronavirus disease or COVID-19 there.
The senator adds that he could have possibly acquired the virus while he was working at the Senate. Zubiri said that he and his wife Audrey travelled to Hong Kong early this year. His wife however tested negative for the virus.
“Our trip with my wife to HK happened on early January before the COVID-19 became [a] serious scare and there [was] still no travel ban at that time. So suffice to say that trip was 2 and a half months ago, and has no bearing on my case,” he said.

Zubiri adds that he was infected because of too many visitors at the Senate.
“If I got infected it was during this last 2 weeks of work at the Senate, wherein we were exposed to a lot of visitors,” Zubiri added.
The senator also accommodated councilors, mayors and Commission on Appointments’ guests who visited the Senate before the chamber went on break last week.
