Around 250 people were placed under monitoring after having a close contact with a Filipino-Aussie who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) upon returning in Australia.
Gov. Amado Espino III said the province of Pangasinan conduct contact tracing of people who mingled with the female balikbayan, Manila Bulletin reported.
The reunion was held last February 22 in Dagupan City. The balikbayan also had breakfast with some relatives and friends in a beach resort in Lingayen the following day.
According to Espino, the provincial government sought immediate interventions upon learning from Health Secretary Francisco Duque III that the of the three foreign visitors who tested positive with the COVID-19 was a female Australian who attended a wedding in Manila and a reunion in Pangasinan.
According to Provincial Health Officer Anna Ma. Teresa De Guzman, all the identified PUMs so far did not show any flu-like symptoms and respiratory ailments.
