The Philippine Embassy in Seoul assured the safety of Filipino migrant workers in areas affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in South Korea.
In an interview with GMA News, Consul General Christian de Jesus said the employers of around 4,000 Filipino workers in virus-stricken city of Daegu are taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
“Ang mga employer po mismo ang tumutulong sa mga employee para sila ay ligtas. Sila po ay nananatili sila kanilang dormitory at sa kanilang factory. Hindi na po lumalabas kung hindi na po kinakailangan,” de Jesus said.
De Jesus added that employers secured that working areas are not overcrowded and face masks were already distributed to the workers.

He reiterated that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Korea yet.

South Korea saw a sudden spike of confirmed cases of coronavirus since February 21.
As of February 25, Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention recorded 893 confirmed cases.
