The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Thursday that it recorded additional four more cases of polio within the country which now brings the total number of documented Polio cases to 16 since the outbreak was declared back in September 2019.
DOH states that the two recorded cases coming from Maguindanao were both males, two and three years old, based on the report by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
“The third case is a two-year-old boy from Sultan Kudarat,” DOH said.
The Health Undersecretary Eric Domingo alerted the public that a boy from Quezon city was the fourth case of polio, and furthered that it is the first confirmed case reported in Metro Manila.
DOH urges the parents and caregivers of children under five years to have their kids vaccinated by their local health professionals.
