ToTok takes over BotIM subscribers in UAE

Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the UAE who knew and have secretly used ToTok for video calls can now heave a sigh of relief.

BotIM, one of the few voice-over-internet-protocol apps allowed in the UAE, told their subscribers in the UAE that they are now merged with ToTok.

Both BotIM and ToTok apps are based in Singapore.

“We’re excited to announce that BotIM recently agreed to continue providing communication services under the ToTok Brand,” BotIM said in its SMS to its subscribers.

Unlike BotIM, audio and video calls using ToTok app in the UAE are free.

BotIM said their services would soon be unavailable temporarily during the transition.

It was not immediately known if BotIM subscribers, who paid monthly premiums to du or Etisalat would be refunded.

Other VOIP apps allowed in the UAE are C’Me, YzerChat and HiU. Voice and video calls are likewise charged per data usage through the telco.

On Google Play, ToTok app has been installed over 5 million times with 4.7 rating.
