A flight attendant of the Southwest Airlines has filed a lawsuit after she allegedly discovered two pilots watching a realtime footage of what’s inside the plane’s lavatory through an iPad.
According to a BCC News report, the flight attendant named Renee Steinaker alleges in her lawsuit that she caught the pilots during a 2017 flight from Pittsburgh to Phoenix.
Captain Terry Graham reportedly asked her to sit in the cockpit with co-pilot, Ryan Russell.
She alleges that while the captain was using the toilet, she saw an iPad showing live video from the toilet.
In other newspapers, it was reported that one of the pilots reportedly told the flight attendant that it was a “top secret security measure”.
Court documents showed, per reports, that the airline denies the existence of such cameras.
Steinaker filed charges against the airline for emotional distress, negligence, invasion of privacy and sexual harassment.
The airline refuted her claims and vowed to defend the company from all her accusations. Southwest airlines said that they investigated her claims in 2017 and found that there were no hidden cameras from the plane’s lavatory.
“We can confirm from our investigation that there was never a camera in the lavatory,” Southwest Airlines said in a statement.
“The incident was an inappropriate attempt at humor, which the company did not condone,” they added.
Ronald Goldman, one of Steinaker’s lawyers said that her case was something he has never seen before.
“This kind of conduct is so beyond the pale, in my opinion, that it jeopardized the safety of the flight and created a hostile work environment for the cabin crew,” the lawyer said.
