Sixty-one of the over 1,000 new cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) recorded by the Department of Health in June were overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Another five were pregnant women, according to DOH.
The DOH Epidemiology Bureau also said that 194 of the 1,006 new cases had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infection.
Majority of the infected individuals were men. Some 98 percent of them were acquired through sexual intercourse, according to DOH. There also were 54 individuals who tested HIV-positive belonging to 10-19 age group. (TT)
