PH, Russia to forge labor deal during Duterte visit

The Philippines and Russia will sign a bilateral agreement on the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers in Russia, according to the Labor Department.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello disclosed this in a radio interview after Malacanang confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to visit Russia in the first week of October.

“May lalagdaan kaming kasunduan, bilateral agreement tungkol sa domestic workers,” the Labor secretary said.

Once the two countries signed the agreement, DOLE will craft the implementing guidelines for the deployment of household workers in Russia.

Bello added that no limit on the number of household workers to be deployed.

“Wala naman pong limit na inilagay. Ang importante, bukas na ang Russia para sa mga Pilipinong household service worker,” Bello said.

Salary will definitely be higher than the minimum set in Manila.
