Store helper in Bulacan commended for bravery, heroism

The municipal government of Norzagaray in Bulacan recognized a 49-year-old store helper who fought off an armed robber.

Cited for his bravery and heroism, Teodoro Flores received a special citation and was offered with a job by Mayor Alfredo Germar, as per a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The municipal government cited Flores for going after the gunman of Melanie Palad, who was robbed while attending to a customer at the Rico Lanie Store in Poblacion village last August 29.

In the report, Norzagaray police chief Major Avelino Protacio said that when Palad screamed after she was shot, Flores acted quickly and struck the gunman with an LPG cylinder tank.

An accomplice, identified as Angelito Valida, grabbed the handgun and fired a shot at Flores before escaping.

Palad and his attacker were rushed to a nearby hospital where they later died.
