A teenager in the US is now in a medically induced comatose after developing a severe lung illness caused by his vaping habit, The New York Post reported.
The teen, identified in the report as Kevin Boclair, 19, is connected to a heart/lung machine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where doctors said he may need a double lung transplant, NYP said citing Boclair’s revelations to local TV stations.
“[Doctors] know it’s vaping,” the report quoted Kevin’s mother, Debbie as telling WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kevin, who goes to school at Bloomsburg University, had reportedly quit e-cigarettes but was enticed to get back to the habit due to their flavor, NYP said, citing his mother’s interview with Fox 29.
Health officials have repeatedly been raising concerns about the health hazards of vaping.
Vaping in public places is not allowed in the UAE.
