Pope Francis gets stuck in elevator for 25 minutes

Pope Francis was late for his weekly address at St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City on Sunday,

The reason? He got stuck in an elevator for 25 minutes.

Firefighters came to the rescue and helped the Pope get out of the stalled elevator, a cnn.com report said.

The Pope apologized to the crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square and explained why he showed up late.

“Dear brothers and sisters, good morning. First of all, I have to apologize for being late but I had an unexpected event, I have been stuck in an elevator for 25 minutes,” he said per the cnn.com report.

The Pope further explained that there was “a drop in voltage ” that caused the elevator to stop.

The Pope went on to thank the firefighters who rescued him.

“Thank goodness, the firemen arrived, and I thank them so much, and after 25 minutes of work they managed to get it started again. A round of applause for the firefighters!” he said.
