Hong Kong based airline Cathay Pacific has launched a probe after dozens of oxygen bottles essential for flight emergency were found empty on two aircrafts.
Ground personnels who have been doing inspection before its schedule flight to Toronto have disclosed that of 22 bottles of oxygen bottles, 8 were affected on the first aircraft while 5 on the other jet.
“Both cabin crew and passengers have in-seat aircraft oxygen available at all times.” Cathay said in a statement.
“The portable oxygen bottles are for operational cabin crew use and permit crew to move around the cabin in the unlikely event of emergency aircraft depressurization,” the statement added.
The oxygen bottles have been refilled before taking off the flight.
Cathay Pacific is now under scrutiny amid the massive Hong Kong protests.
It’s new leader Rupert Hogg said they will focus on the safety and security of passengers.
