Duterte declares lotto, all PCSO gaming activities illegal

President Rodrigo Duterte on July 26 ordered all gaming schemes getting franchised by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to stop their operations.

The president said in his televised message late Friday that all gaming and gambling activities that got their franchise through PCSO are now suspended or terminated, and that starting July 27, these will be considered illegal, as per a report by ABS-CBN News.

“I said all gaming activities, gambling, that got their franchise from government through PCSO are, as of today, suspended or terminated,” he said.

In a message released on Presidential Communications Operations Office’s Facebook page, the president added that the decision was made because of the massive corruption involving the PSCO as well as courts issuing “injunctions to paralyze the government.”

He gave the police and military a day to stop and arrest people engaging in all the gaming activities franchised by PCSO.
