A Filipina working as a domestic helper in Dubai is in a state of comatose after suffering a heart attack.
A fellow Filipina working as a nurse in the hospital reached out to the OFW’s family to seek help.
The OFW was allegedly left by her employer after taking her to the hospital as per reports from BITAG.
The said media outlet then coordinated with the Philippine Consulate for Dubai and the Northern Emirates on behalf of the mother of the victim who reported the case.
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes confirms that the OFW had an insurance plan since she was employed but it so happens that the hospital doesn’t honor the insurance plan of the OFW.
“The Philippine Consulate General is in touch with the family of the overseas Filipino and has provided its assurances that it will extend fullest appropriate assistance to the overseas Filipino. It is also in direct contact with the DFA as well as our Regional Office in Calasiao Pangasinan so that updates are provided these parties regularly,” said Cortes.
Ready to assist Filipinos in distress
Cortes furthered that the Consulate is prepared to help fellow Filipinos to head back home most especially in cases of unsuitable working conditions.
“The Consulate also reiterates that it does not discriminate between immigration status of overseas Filipinos when providing necessary assistance. We provide assistance to every Filipino even if status is tourist or resident,” affirms Cortes.
The Consulate likewise said that they will be providing updates about the OFW’s condition while confined.
